George Ferguson Shepherd was born on September 1,1885 in Armagh, Ireland.
In 1907 he was living at Daisy Hill, Drumashee, Armagh,having qualified from The Royal College of Surgeons in Midwifery.By 1912 he was living at South Shields having gained a diploma in public health from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ireland.
According to a hand-written documrnt supplied with the group he was mobilsed 10/08/1914 at The Royal Victoria Hospital Netley with the rank of Lieut.
The medal roll shows him as serving in India, the BWM being his only medal for service in WW1.
Enrolled in the Brigade November,1905, and hand-written testimonial lists his promotions.
He was appointed a serving brother of The Order of St John, London Gazette 2nd January 1940 and as an Officer, London Gazette 22nd June, 1945.
Shepherd died at South Shields, County Durham in September 1945.
Comes with copied papers and hand-written testimonial of his service dated 1923 listing his service in the war and with St.John's Ambulance Brigade.
