Sergeant Harold Colin Parker 1875343 207 Sqdn., Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve was killed in action on 20th February 1944 Age 19.The Son of Cyril Edgar and Elsie Gladys Parker, husband of Kathleen Jean Parker of Norwich.

on 19th/20th February 1944 operation over Leipzig.
Took off at 00.07 hours from R.A.F. Spilsby to attack the City of Leipzig.This was a disastrous night for Bomber Command losing 78 aircraft of the 823 taking part.
The Bomber Stream was under attack all the way to the target by German night fighters.The weather at the target area was not as forecast and they arrived too early for the Pathfinders.They also encountered heavy flak losing 20 aircraft from this and a further 4 were lost in collisions.420 aicrew were lost, 131 taken P.O.W.
Nothing was heard from Lancaster ME633 and was lost without trace,No night fighter claim for can be found for this aircraft.
Also comes with copy of his service record, which shows he was born on 22/08/1924 at Charlton, London,Home address given as at 37, Heigham Road, Norwich Norfolk.He was entitled to the 1939/45 Star,with Bomber Command clasp, Aircrew Europe Star and 1939/45 War Medal.These were issued to his next of kin(with the exception of the clasp) on 12th February 1951.
